THR reached out to a representative for Barrera, who has written dozens of posts about the war since Hamas invaded Israel on Oct. 7.

Barrera helped revive the series with the 2022 feature film Scream, which grossed $137.7 million worldwide and reunited generations of cast members from the series. The film stars Sam Carpenter, who starred in “Barela,” and Jenna Ortega’s sister Terra Barrera, who also appeared in “Scream VI.” It was released in theaters in March and has a worldwide sales of 168.9 million. It recorded a box office revenue of more than $1,000.

“Happy Death Day” filmmaker Christopher Landon has taken over the reins on “Scream VII” from filmmaker Radio Silence. Filming had not yet begun, and development was delayed during the actors and writers’ strike. Spyglass is expected to readjust its plans following Barrera’s dismissal. Paramount was in charge of distributing the latest film and is expected to return to distribute the new film as well.

In this week on Tuesday a news came out that the actor Susan Sarandon has also let out by the talent agency for the same reason that she commented of the pro Palestine rally which happened in New York City on November 17.

Officials insist that Mr. Ortega’s departure had nothing to do with Mr. Barrera’s ouster. Sources say Ortega’s representatives told Spyglass before the actors’ strike that Ortega, one of Hollywood’s greatest young actresses of the past decade, would not be returning.
